A New Beginning.... Again

It is time.  After morphing through scenario after scenario to gain a goal and focus - I have decided to put my accountability into written word.  Published written word.  I have no intent to market myself, but I am currently having challenges with making personal connections and motivation to do little more than sit around watching the latest television series (back to back, of course).

I do better being fully scheduled out.  I know this, yet lately the tasks I have chosen have not been personally satisfying.  I am a newbie in a rural, high recreation area with a blank slate.  I can do just about anything, yet, nothing is fitting the bill.

My third child (of three) is in Kindergarten this year (YIPPPPEEE)!  I have ALL day to myself (and my chocolate lab, Charlie) and I am having a hard time getting kick started.  Maybe my body is in detox from the constant go, go, go, go ,go the past 11 years.  Or maybe, I just need a goal.

My life (like most people, I assume) is a series of cycles.  Most recently (before my relocation to the mountain mecca I call home) I was a CrossFitter, racquetball player, road cyclist & snowboarder.  I thought I would continue CF at home, but find the motivation thin.  RB requires a partner and I have played once in the new area (with some dudes that helped fill the void, but they were dudes).  I continue to cycle, but solo and spend enough time by myself.  Hallelujah - snowboard season is close, very close.  Fingers crossed I'll be able to make it an entire run down the mountain, as I am as out of shape as I have ever been.

I started jogging on Monday.  First attempt, a quick run (um, walk/jog) up to Hidden Lake (1.2 mile/round-trip). I was able to run a whole 200 feet before I had to walk.  Fortunately, once we (Charlie & I) got to the lake - it was all downhill to the car.  All week long I had convinced myself that it was a 2 mile journey.  The wind was taken out of my sails, as it is much less than that.

Charlie seemed a bit confused on the frozen state of the lake.
On Thursday evening, I made a return trip to Hidden Lake, hoping to NOT walk on the way up.  WRONG!  May have beat my time on Monday - but nature called and I ducked into the trees for a minute.

Charlie hoping to find an opening

Moral of the story, I have some work ahead of me. Weight loss and fitness goals are not yet determined - just to be better off than where I am now, then (when? I don't know, working out those details).

A friend & I formed the blog "NW Adventure Chics" back 5-ish years ago.  Life happened and some challenges I faced broke up that project/relationship.  We are still friends, but not to the depth it once was.  I miss her & all the fun we had pushing ourselves from one adventure to another.  I hope to rekindle that relationship again, but for now I have some work to do on myself.
